Brachiosaurus possesses one of the most distinctive heads in the sauropod family, defined by a spectacular, high-domed forehead that places the large nasal openings at the very top of the skull. This unique "nasal crest" creates a tall, arching profile that contrasts sharply with the flat, horse-like heads of relatives like Diplodocus. Its jaws are lined with broad, spoon-shaped (spatulate) teeth, which were evolved specifically for cropping tough vegetation and branches high in the tree canopy. Unlike other herbivores that simply raked leaves, these robust teeth allowed Brachiosaurus to bite through thicker woody material with ease. Despite the animal's colossal body size, the skull itself was surprisingly lightweight, riddled with large openings called fenestrae to reduce mass.
